摘要 <p>A coordinate measuring machine wherein an X carriage (36) and a Y carriage (32) are rendered light in weight, and the center of gravity of the Y carriage (32) including the X carriage (36) and a Z carriage (58) is disposed close to a driving source, to thereby smoothen the movements of the X carriage (36) and the Y carriage (32). Driving roller portions (33A, 33B) and a pair of distributing rollers (40A, 40B) are provided on the X carriage (36). A first and second rollers (44, 48) are provided at one end portion and the other end portion of an X-axis guide (34), so that the wire (50) distributed by the distributing rollers (40A, 40B) can be guided around the first and second rollers. Then, a third roller (46) is rotatably provided at one end portion of the X-axis guide (34), so that the wire (50) guided around the second roller (48) can be guided therearound. Further, the Z carriage (58) is connected to one end portion and the other end portion of the wire (50) guided around the driving roller portions (38A, 38B), and a balance weight (56) is suspended from the wire (50) guided around the first and third rollers (44, 46), to thereby offset the gravity of the Z carriage. With these arrangements, the wire (50) for suspending the Z carriage (58) is disposed along the X-axis guide, so that the Z column can be dispensed with. &lt;IMAGE&gt;</p>
