PROTECTIVE DEVICE FOR HEAD PART OF CREW IN AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To securely protect a head of a crew on board automobile without retreating an air bag to an outside of an outomobile even windglasses of doors are opened by providing retreat checking members of air bag fitted on the upper parts of side windows and moving devices moving the air bag to positions along insides of windows when the air bag is expanded. CONSTITUTION:Encountering a collision from a side and side direction acceleration causes an air bag 42 to be expanded to push a lid 32 toward an automobile inside. This causes the lid 32 to begin opening with a peripheral part on a rivet 38 side as a rotation center to rotate with the peripheral part on a rivet 40 side as a rotation tip. Reaching of the rotation tip side of the lid 32 to a direct vicinity of a wind glass 26 causes a strap 50 to become a tightly stretched condition to check an approaching directional rotation of the lid 32 to the wind glass 26 beyond that. The air bag 42 expanded in this way is backed up with the lid 32 from the wind glass 26 side. This can surely catch a head part of rushed person on board.
