SHIELD FOR COVERING THE GAP BETWEEN THE SLIDING COVER AND THE ROOF FRAME OF A SLIDING ROOF OR SLIDING LIFTING ROOF OF MOTOR VEHICLES The multipart telescopable shield for covering the lateral gap between the underside of a rigid sliding cover with which it is displaceable and the roof frame of a sliding or sliding lifting roof of motor vehicles is on each cover side constructed on a connecting arm, which connects a water deflector underpinning the rear marginal gap between the cover and the fixed vehicle roof with the front guide shoe of the sliding cover. The shield is constructed from resiliently engaging, strip-like parts, has no additional frictional engagement with the component fixed to the roof and is not fixed to the sliding cover. As a function of the pivoting position of the sliding cover, the shield is compressed to a greater or lesser extent by the latter.
