PURPOSE: To track the position and direction of an invasive apparatus such as a catheter without using X-rays. CONSTITUTION: A transmitting coil is fitted near the end of an invasive apparatus 120, and it is driven by an RF power source. The dipole electromagnetic field generated by the transmitting coil is detected by multiple receiving coils 160 arranged around an interested region, it is A/D-converted, then the position and orientation of the transmitting coil (apparatus) are calculated by a computer. The calculated position and direction of the apparatus are overlapped on a diagnostic image as symbols 152 and displayed on a display 150. |
