<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful for a herbicide having excellent selectivity for paddy field and upland field. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [R is (substituted) sulfamoylphenyl] such as N-(4-chloro-5-aminosulfonylphenyl)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimide. The compound of formula I, for example, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (R1 is H or halogen; R2 is H, alkyl, cyano or halogen; Y<1> is eliminable group in sulfonylation) with a compound of formula III (R3 is H, hydroxy, amino, cyano, nitro, sulfamoyl, etc.; R4 is H or organic group).</p> |
