PURPOSE:To provide a lubricant which can exhibit excellent lubricating properties under various conditions of use, retuins the lubricating effect for a long time and requires little or no fluorocarbon solvent when applied, and to provide a magnetic recording medium excellent in running properties, abrasion resistance, durability, etc. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant containing an ester of a carboxyl-terminated perfluoropolyether with a long-chain alcohol; and a magnetic recording medium essentially consisting of a nonmagnetic substrate and a magnetic layer formed thereon, wherein the surface of the magnetic layer is coated with the above lubricant. |
