<p>PURPOSE:To provide the method for molding a glass lens which keeps a glass gob free from pressure exertion upon contacting of an upper mold and a lower mold as well as the glass gob and eliminates the possibility of cracking the glass gob prior to molding. CONSTITUTION:This method for molding the glass lens consists in heating the glass gob 11 on the molding surface of the lower mold 17 by an induction heating means 5, heating the glass gob 11 from the glass transition temperature of the glass gob 11 up to the molding temp. thereof and press molding the heated glass gob 11 between the molding surface of the upper mold 16 and the molding surface of the lower mold 17. The molding surface of the above- mentioned upper mold 16 and the glass gob 11 are brought into contact with each other at the temp. below the glass transition temperature, by which the glass lens is molded.</p> |
