<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a xanthine derivative having excellent alleviating activity against dementia. CONSTITUTION:A xanthine derivative of formula I [one of R<1> and R<2> is substituted or nonsubstituted (lower alkyl, alicyclic alkyl, phenyl or benzyl), lower alkenyl or lower alkynyl and the other is (CH2)mX; (m) is 2 or 3; X is group of formula II or formula III; (a) is NH, O or S; (b), (d), (e), (g) and (h) are CH or N; Q is group of formula IV to formula VII; R<3> and R<4> are substituted or nonsubstituted alicyclic alkyl; Y is single bond or alkylene; (n) is 0 or 1; L-M is CH2CH2 or CH=CH] or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt such as 3-(4-aminophenethyl)-8-(3-noradmantyl)-1-propylxanthine. The compound is produced by reacting a compound of formula VIII (R<5> and R<6> are R<1> or R<2> with the proviso that NH2 in formula II to formula III has protecting group; Hal is halogen) with a compound of the formula QCO2H or its reactive derivative, subjecting to ring closure and further deprotecting.</p> |
