PURPOSE:To shorten melting time of a solid ink at starting and detect a feeding time of the solid ink so as to inform of it by providing a heater at least at a part of the solid ink and integrating it. CONSTITUTION:A solid ink having a heater is covered with a package 6. Even when the solid ink 5 melts and collapses, it is prevented from entering an ink tank directly. The lower part of the heater 4 is widened so that the ink hardly falls down. A dish-like plate 7a having a hole therein is attached to the lower part of the heater so as to support the solid ink 5. Accordingly, the ink does not fall down in the ink tank even when it melts. Also, by attaching a protrusion 4a at least on a part of the heater 4, the ink can be melted faster and the ink at the upper part can be supported.
