The reproduction device applies to an image stored in memory in the form of pixels on a photosensitive medium (26) by illumination of the medium through a matrix of modulation elements, in which the light transmission is controllable electrically from a memory. In order to reproduce the image, consisting of mM x nN stored pixels, with the aid of a matrix with M x N modulation elements with simultaneous control, the device comprises means for reducing the image of each of the M x N elements of the matrix to only a fraction of the interval between the images of two successive elements in the absence of the said reduction means, and comprises means for repeating in sequence a displacement en bloc of the images of all the reduced elements, by a fraction of the said intervals, and control of the modulation elements in order to reproduce a new set of M x N pixels, doing so m x n times. <IMAGE>
