PURPOSE:To materialize a transparent cold cathode which does not absorb the ingredients having entered cold cathode, among luminous fluxes generated by negative glow, and enables it to be effectively made use of for indication or illumination, and can elevate the emission efficiency of the cold cathode discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:A transparent cold cathode 1 is provided with a cathode substrate 3 consisting of a transparent conductive film, an amorphous semiconductor layer 4 equipped with transparency covering the surface of the cathode substrate 3, and an amorphous emitter layer 5 equipped with transparency covering the surface of that semiconductor layer 4. |
