PURPOSE: To provide a method for starting a polyphase motor in the desired direction of rotation, with a maximum torque. CONSTITUTION: A method for starting a polyphase motor 5 having a plurality of stator coils 10, 11, 12 and a rotor is provided with a step, wherein rise times of the respective current of the stator coils are measured, a step wherein the position of the rotor is determined from the rise time measured values, and a step wherein a coil to which voltage is applied for generating a maximum starting torque of the motor is determined. Uncertainty in position is dissolved by applying to a determined coil a voltage sufficient for generating at least a slight rotation of the rotor, remeasuring at least the rise times of currents of a plurality of the stator coils, determining the difference between the rise time measured values and the remeasured values, and determining the direction of the rotation of the motor. The difference indicates the direction of the rotation of the motor. |
