The target disc, receiving optical shot pulses from a training weapon, has a series of concentric rings, coupled to an evaluation circuit (A), indicating which ring receives the short pulse. The target disc rings are scanned by a rotary element (26) with a rotation time equal to, or less than, the duration of the shot pulses. The shot pulses are pulsed at a given frequency, the evaluation circuit (A) incorporating a processor and a memory determining the strike position from values held in the memory relating to the size and position of the strike. ADVANTAGE - Simple modification of strike data for different calibre weapons.
