PURPOSE:To provide a pseudo gradation device improving an output picture in response to a feature of an input picture. CONSTITUTION:A threshold level matrix storage means 10 stores plural threshold matrices. An inference means 12 infers a feature of the lightness depending on a change in the lightness being a factor of the structure of the picture elements or a dispersion in the lightness. A selection means 14 selects a threshold level matrix stored in the threshold level matrix storage means 10 based on the feature of the lightness inferred by the inference means 12. Thus, pseudo gradation in response to the feature of an input picture is implemented. |
