A method of obtaining thymoquinone, consisting in thymol is dissolved in n-hexane and then oxidized by ceric perchlorate in the medium of hydrous solution of perchloric acid, however, ceric perchlorate is used in the amount preferably greater than the reaction stoichiometry.
