The invention relates to a surround frame (1) for a licence plate (4) of a motor vehicle (5), the main characteristic of which is that it does not cover the plate. It consists of two parts: the frame (1) proper and its fastening part (3), which may constitute a single piece or two separate pieces which are assembled together, the fastening part being inserted between the plate and the motor vehicle, the plate, fastening part and vehicle being solidly attached by screws, rivets or any other means (6). <IMAGE>
