PURPOSE:To suppress a rapid change in the density between picture elements and to improve the reproducibility of a magnified picture in the case of magnification processing of an intermediate tone picture at a multiple of (n). CONSTITUTION:Multi-value data D1 subject to A/D-conversion are fetched to a RAM 3, and the multi-value data D1 are read from the RAM 3 for each picture element for n-times each and sequentially stored in latch circuits 21, 22. Mean value data D5 between output data D3 of the latch circuit 21 and output data D4 of the latch circuit 22 are obtained by a mean value calculation circuit 23, and the mean data string is outputted as n-multiple magnified picture data D6 via a latch circuit 24. In the case of reading of multi-value data for n-times with respect to the magnified object picture element, the mean value data of the multi-value data between adjacent picture elements are inserted for the read of each time and a change in the density between picture elements is corrected to be smooth even in the magnification processing of an intermediate tone picture. |
