PURPOSE:To drive a display device for executing gradation display without generating sticking. CONSTITUTION:Dielectric layers are interposed between plural scan side electrodes and plural data side electrodes which are arranged in a certain direction so as to be crossed each other. Modulated voltages corresponding to display data are impressed to the data side electrodes, and the write voltages of a positive or negative polarity are line sequentially impressed to the scan side electrodes. In the case of executing the gradation display differring the luminance of picture elements over multiple stages while executing AC drive by thinning the display data and impressing the plural kinds of modulated voltages 1/2VM and VM varying the amplitude for each frame at a display device to emit the picture elements composed of the dielectric layers, the amplitudes of write voltages VW1 and -VW2 are set so that the waveform of the voltage impressed to the picture element in the case of full emission not to thin the display data can keep symmetry between the waveform of the positive polarity and the waveform of the negative polarity.
