The pipe end, using a sealing arrangement, is connected to a connection of a fitting by radial plastic deformation. A protective socket (2) releasably connected to the fitting covers at least the pressed area of the union pipe (3). The fitting has a groove in which the protective socket (2) releasably engages. The groove is all-round and the protective socket has several inwardly directed cams (2a) which engage in the groove. The protective socket is made of bend-resistible material. The socket extends over the free end of the connection. The fitting is cylindrical and has two connections, being fully covered by the protective socket. The press tool used for making the connection has guide means (6a) which when pressing occurs work in conjunction with corresp. guide means of the fitting. USE/ADVANTAGE - A union for domestic piping which comprises few components and is simple to produce.
