The present invention relates to a portable lifting system designed to raise or lower an actual individual and including its own lifting mechanism (2, 3) and an accumulator (7) as well as control means (10, 11) located in a box (1), characterised in that, on either side of the said box (1) there are lifting belts (4, 5) which can be wound up and unwound simultaneously with one another such that together they can support the said box (1) or the said actual individual by means of the said belts (4, 5) and in that, at the bottom or on the opposite sides of the said box (1) arms (8) and (9) are provided to support or raise the said individual, the said arms (8, 9) extending in opposite directions from the said lifting belts (4, 5) making it possible to support the said individual or the said box (1). <IMAGE>
