A taper shank (1) to suit the boring machine spindle has a cylindrical body with a bore in which can be clamped (3) a flanged sleeve (2). The bore (2a) of the sleeve is eccentric by an amount (e) to the axis of the taper shank (1). Fitting in the eccentric sleeve is an adaptor with a central hole for the shaft of a commercial boring bar (5) with a toolbit (5a). The boring bar is clamped in place by a screw (6), but alternatively the boring bar and adaptor can be of one piece construction. The tool is radially adjustable by rotation of the adaptor (4) together with the boring bar. ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost design with few parts.
