The present invention relates to a method for readapting dwellings comprising apartments of small or large living surface by uniting in duplex rooms of two superimposed floors, and a construction element for implementing such method. According to the invention, two façade openings, belonging to rooms to be united, are vertically interconnected by a staircase housed in a construction element (19) built in the façade, of which the horizontal cross-section is defined by an outline, polygonal or arc of a circle, exinscribed to the outer section of the staircase cage, which outline is extended, in general by straight lines, up to the extremities of the base, said base having a width corresponding to a modular spacing such that the vertical loads may be reported to the façade posts of the construction. |
