A device for generating short-wave electromagnetic radiation, especially in the X and gamma radiation range, by the interaction of accelerated charge carriers, especially electrons or positrons, and a crystal grid, with a charge carrier source to generate a bunch of enriched charge carriers and a crystal arrangement arranged in the path of the charge carrier beam in such a way that the charge carriers pass through the crystal grid parallel to a predetermined grid direction ("channelling condition"). In order to generate an electromagnetic radiation beam with a predetermined convergence or divergence, use is made of a correspondingly convergent or divergent charge carrier beam (212) and a crystal arrangement (214) curved in such a way that the channelling condition for all charge carrier paths in the crystal is at least approximately satisfied.
