Equipment to form leno selvedge is attached to the heald frames so that the two threads from a twisted shed, into which the fringe of weft is engaged. The slides of the former are spring held in frame which carry each thread first to one side and then the other. The slides are made from abrasion resisting material. Pref. the leno selvedge former is an assembly of parts. Frame encloses the sldie. The slide has two slots which cover similar slots in the carriage, but at opposing angles. The slots are ceramic to resist wear from a thread which passes through. The thread passes through in th manner of a warp, so that as one is lifted, the other is lowered, and in addition, guided by the angle of the slots, they cross over each other. This means that as the weft fringe created by a shuttleless loom is trapped in the shed, the selvedge warp thread is twisted as it interweaves. ADVANTAGE - The method of springing is good and the parts will withstand considerable movement at speed before needing to be replaced.
