A surfboard (1) is provided with a rudder to enable it to be steered. The rudder is actuated by means of rods (4) which are connected to plates (2) which are pivoted to the upper surface of the surfboard (1). Each of these plates is fitted with a loop (3). The surfboarder steers the surfboard by placing a foot into one of the loops and rotating the attached plate (2) so that the surfboard is steered in the required direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - The surfboard can be steered whilst the surfboarder's hands are left free to control the sail.
