The heating device uses a heating block (10) heated by at least one heating element (20) and incorporating a number of spaced reception compartments (11a...11c, 12a...12c) for holding respective cartridge for the plastics material to be heated. A delayed heat feed to the individual compartments is provided so that the softening of the material in one cartridge is delayed relative to the softening of the material in another cartridge. Pref. the heating block has two spaced rows of compartments (11a.. 11c, 12a...12c) with the heating element (20) embedded in the block between them. The compartments (11a...11c; 12a...12c) pref. receive the heat unsymmetrically to obtain the required heating delay. ADVANTAGE - Low runing cost combined with ease of use.
