<p>The subject of the present invention is a rotary vacuum pump driving device for a pneumatic brake booster on a motor vehicle with electric motor. This device, which is of the type comprising a mechanism (20) for connecting between the pump (30) and a main propulsion motor (10) making it possible to drive rotationally on the one hand at least one drive wheel of the vehicle (14) and on the other hand the pump (30), is characterised in that it further includes an electrically controlled clutch (33) inserted between the pump and the connection mechanism, an auxiliary electric motor (50) connected to the pump (30) and a sensor (60) for sensing the speed of the vehicle as a function of the state of which sensor the clutch (33) or the auxiliary motor (50) are activated so that the pump is constantly driven by one or other of the said motors (10, 30).
