PROTECTIVE COVER FOR VALVE OR PIPE FLANGE

A box for enclosing a valve or pipe flange and thus protecting it from the weather is formed in two halves 10 and 11, the edges of which are formed to mate with each other and provide a weather-resistant but easily-opened seal (fig 3, not shown). The halves are formed with flat faces, which may be pressed out to form a multiplicity of flat panels 17 to enhance rigidity. The halves may be secured together by toggle clamps 18. Preferably the top of the box has a pitched roof 16 to shed water. The box may be made from sheet metal such as aluminium or galvanised steel, and may have an inner insulating layer.
