PURPOSE: To obtain improvement sealing means for sealing solid electrolyte ceramics in a metal housing capable of using it in an oxygen sensing implement adapted to sense the oxygen concentration of exhaust gas of a vehicle emitted from an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: A relatively thick annular member 12 is provided between ceramics 14 and a metal housing 30. The material of the member 12 is selected so as to have higher thermal expansion coefficient than those of the sealed ceramics 14 and housing 30, and preferably made of austenite stainless steel. Thus, when the sealed region is heated, the member 12 is expanded from the ceramics 14 and housing 30, thereby holding the sealing region in a compressed state, thereby effectively sealing the invasion of undesired exhaust gas in the reference air chamber 16 of the ceramics 14. |
