A set of treads comprising two types (11, 11') are shaped for assembly around a central column within a square for assembly around a central column within a square stair shaft. The treads are cut from a rectangular panel of glued strip timber, in two sections (11A, 11B), by diagonally cutting at 11 1/4 degrees to the laminations, and gluing together along the centre-line (13) of the tread so formed. - The two tread types are shaped so that the long side (17) of one, corresponds to the short side (18) of the other. Two treads together occupy 90 degrees of the stair well. The short sides (14) are fixed to the central column. |
