PURPOSE:To provide a vehicle automatic transmission device which provides delicate speed change control by enabling setting of a second shift position which differs from an ordinary running range to allow a shift pattern for snow- covered road start, steep slope descending, gentle slope ascending, or the like to be automatically selected depending upon running conditions when the second shift position is selected. CONSTITUTION:A select lever 48a which allows a parking position (P range), renewal stage position (R range), neutral position (N range Z), and running stage position (D range), as well as a second shift position (F range) to be selected is provided on a center console. When a position sensor 48 detects the D range (a first shift position) being selected, an ECU 40 automatically selects from among the first to fourth speed stages based on the vehicle speed and the throttle opening which represents loads on the engine as well as stored shift pattern. On the other hand, when the F range is selected, the ECU 40 automatically selects a shift pattern for such as snow-covered road start, steep slope descending, gentle slope ascending, or the like depending upon the running conditions of the vehicle. |
