PURPOSE:To obtain a new uracil derivative useful as a herbicide showing selectivity to important crops, having excellently herbicidal effects on various weeds with a small amount and both soil treating and foliar treating effects. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [R<1> is H or (halo)alkyl; R<2> is (halo) alkyl; R<3> is H, R<2>, hydroxymethyl, halogen or NO2; R<4> is H or halogen; R<5> is R<4>, NO2 or CN; X is O or S; Da and Db are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, Ar (Ar is phenyl or naphthyl which may be substituted), L<1>-Ar (L<1> is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl), Het (Het is five to six-membered heterocyclic or condensed heterocyclic), L<1>-Het, etc.]. The compound is obtained by reacting a beta-acrylic ester of formula II (G<1> is alkyl) or an N-alkyl-beta-acrylic ester of formula III with a phenyl iso(thio)cyanate of formula IV or an N-phenyl (thio) carbamate of formula V (G<2> is alkyl or phenyl) and optionally treating the resultant substance with an alkylating agent. |
