PURPOSE:To obtain the subject nonwoven fabric excellent in tensile strength by mixing non-split conjugate filaments with split filaments produced from split type bicomponent conjugate filaments each having a multi-lobar cross-sectional shape and subsequently subjecting the mixture to a fusion treatment. CONSTITUTION:Split filaments A having a single filament of 0.05-1 denier and split filaments B having a single filament fineness of three times or larger that of the filament A, both being produced from split type bicomponent conjugate filaments each having a multi-lobar cross-sectional shape, are mixed with non-split conjugate filaments, and the low melting point split filaments A are melted and solidified to produce fused sites between the mutual non-split conjugate filaments. Each of the split type bicomponent conjugate filaments each is composed of an approximately circular core formed from a polymer B and of at least three lobes which are non-compatible with the polymer B, which are formed from a polymer A having a lower melting point than that of the polymer B and which are bonded to the circumference of the core. |
