PURPOSE:To make it possible to provide an extremely effeccient and precise automatic identification of tires, by fixing a specific tire size identification bar- code ticket onto the outer surface of a tire. CONSTITUTION:A bar-code ticket 10 is formed such that a tire identification bar- cord 12 is printed and displayed on the front surface of a base sheet before a transparent protecting layer 13 is applied on the front surface, and then an adhesive layer 14 is applied to the rear surface of the sheet 11. The dimensions of the bar-code ticket 10 are preferably such that the longitudinal length B is 5-15mm. while the transverse length A is 10-30mm., and the thickness is less than 0.1mm.. The ticket 10 is applied to a vulcanized tire in the surface area extending radially outward from the tire bead edge 18 to the level corresponding to the flange height Rh. The bar-code on the ticket 10 is optically detected by means of a bar-code reader, and is converted into an electrical signal to be decoded to know the kind or the like of the tire. |
