PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, knit or woven fabric and nonwoven fabric excellent in electric conductivity and chemical resistance by combining fiber, having the fiber surface cross-linked with a specific metal and subjected to electroless plating with polyolefinic heat fusible fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective electrically conductive fiber is obtained by treating acrylic fiber with, e.g. hydrazine, introducing cross-linked bonds, hydrolyzing the resultant fiber with an alkali metallic hydroxide, etc., introducing carboxyl group and amide group into the remainder, treating the prepared fiber with a polyvalent metallic salt solution such as zinc or copper, forming polyvalent metallic ion cross-linkages, providing fiber cross-linked with the metal and subjecting the fiber surface to electroless plating. The electrically conductive fiber is processed into knit or woven fabric or, together with polyolefinic heat fusible fiber, formed into a sheets to afford nonwoven fabric, having electric conductivity and containing the metal-plated fiber cross-linked with the metal. |
