The invention relates to a device for coupling a piece (2) integral with a shoe sole and a piece which is intended to be at least indirectly guided in rotation about an axis at the end of one of the two crank arms of a pedal and gear mechanism. It is characterised in that: - on the one hand, the faces which, in pairs and on each piece, angularly limit the surfaces constituting the means for locking in translation; also angularly limit in twos, on either side of each locking surface, a free angular sector called a cutout whose angular value extends in a predetermined manner beyond that which, conventionally, should correspond to the angular value of the sector constituted by the locking surfaces, only increased by a slight mechanical assembly clearance, and - on the other hand, the shaft of the centring means forms, beyond the front face of the piece carrying it, a projection with a likewise predetermined height. <IMAGE>
