ARC DETECTOR FOR ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

PURPOSE: To protect an electric circuit from an excess current by detecting an arc current applying heat or other adverse influences damaging the electric circuit. CONSTITUTION: A charge conductor 46 connecting a voltage source 26 to a load 30 is set in the arc detector for electric circuits. The arc detector detects an electromagnetic field formed in the periphery of the conductor 46 when an electric arc is brought about to the electric circuit. The arc detector has an electromagnetic field sensor 62 which generates an electromagnetic field response signal when the electromagnetic field is detected, and an arc distinction circuit 64 which generates an arc display signal in response to a random chaos pattern of the electromagnetic field response signal of the sensor 62.
