PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of an output image by visually smoothing stepwise jags formed at the contour part of a polygon based upon vector data by an simple means when a bit map image is plotted by painting out the inside of the polygon. CONSTITUTION:The vector data on the contours of a figure image and a character image are stored in a vector data storage means 1, a bit map image plotting means 3 paints out the inside of the image given by the vector data to plot the bit map image in a bit map image storage means 2, and a smoothing process means 5 deletes picture elements at a specific position of the periphery of the stepwise variation part of an image to be plotted and adds picture elements at other specific positions to smooth the stepwise variation part of the image. Then an image output means 4 forms a visible image according to the bit map image data and outputs it. |
