<p>PURPOSE:To control a valve timing and a valve lift variably and relatively in accordance with an operation condition of an engine and obtain a smooth lift characteristic all the times by providing a swing cam connected to a variable lifter device and swinging between the variable lifter device and a valve. CONSTITUTION:Upon low or medium load operation, a controlling oil pressure supplied from an oil pressure regulator 30 to an oil tappet 13 is relatively low and a push rol 14 is lowered relatively due to a lowering of a plunger 23. Consequently, a swing cam 15 is rotated counterclockwise before a body 21 is slidingly contacted with a lift portion of a cam 11 and a phase thereof is deviated until a position where a locker arm 17 will be abutted against a base circle 42b before a beginning position 42a of a baffering curve for the swing cam 15. Accordingly, even though the tapper 13 is lifted from this condition by the cam 11, the cam 15 is being rotated only and the valve 18 will not be lifted for the time being, thereafter, when the locker arm 17 is arrived at the position 42a, the valve 18 is begun to be lifted.</p> |
