PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture control, to improve the accuracy of a branching ratio and to enable the stepless adjustment of a branching ratio by bringing the polished planes of two pieces of ferrule elements with semicylindrical optical fibers into opposite and tight contact with each other and press fitting the elements into the through-hole of a cylindrical bushing, thereby integrating the elements. CONSTITUTION:A one-circuit coupling ferrule B and a two-circuit branching ferrule A as well as one piece of aligning sleeve S are assembled to constitute the branching ratio variable type 1X2 circuit optical branching/coupling device. The outer peripheral cylindrical parts of the respective ferrules A, B are lightly press fitted rotatably into the through-hole 10 of the aligning sleeve S from both end sides thereof so as to face each other. The front end faces 12, 12' of the respective ferrules are energized by means of compression springs, by which the end faces are held in tight contact with each other and the above- mentioned device is assembled. only the optical fiber cores having one kind of the bisected planes are used regardless of the branching ratios in such a manner and, therefore, the accuracy of the branching ratios is improved. |
