The chain conveyor has four chain strands in pairs parallel to each other along their overall circumferential path. Each conveyor element (7) such as a bucket or scraper, is connected to all chain strands (3-6), while followers (12) which connect the conveyor elements to the chains are designed as rocker arms swivelling at their centre. They engage by their ends in adjacent chain links (22) of each pair, set at right angles to the axes of sprockets (1,2). The followers pref. have a rotationally symmetrical central area and adjoining flattened ends. ADVANTAGE - Even distribution of loads acting on each individual conveyor element over the entire chain lengths.
