The invention relates to the extraction of a boring machine from inside an underground gallery. The gallery (1) is first of all extended by an inclined tunnel (3) rising to the proximity of the surface of the ground, then by a trench (4) rising to the atmosphere at the surface of the ground, this tunnel and this trench being suitably shored to prevent ground subsidence which can cause surface damage, and this tunnel and this trench having sufficient slopes for the boring machine (7) to be able to rise along the tunnel and trench by using its own displacement means until it reaches the surface, and is ready to be transferred, optionally after partial dismantling, onto a vehicle. The invention applies in particular to the extraction of a boring machine into a roadway. <IMAGE>
