The subject of the present invention is a device for checking for anomalies in a wire (1) moving longitudinally at high speed, for example in a hot-rolling mill. The device includes a detection rig (20) mounted on a base (6) of the rolling mill, including a detection probe (4) and guide means comprising a support (21a, 21b) carrying a nozzle (22a, 22b) through which the wire (1) passes and which is composed of a tubular part (23a, 23b) and of a conical part (24a, 24b). Each support (21a, 21b) includes at least two guide rollers (25a, 25b), the axes of rotation (26a, 26b) of which are perpendicular and symmetrical to the axis of movement of the wire (1) and with the longitudinal axis of the corresponding nozzle (22a, 22b), the rollers (25a, 25b) gripping the said wire (1) diametrally. <IMAGE>
