PURPOSE:To stabilize photomerocyanine produced by ultraviolet irradiation and to extend record retention time by forming a a recording layer made of a mixture of a spiropyrane molecule and a liquid crystal molecule. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer of the photorecording medium is made of the mixture of the liquid crystal molecule and the spiropyrane molecule represented by formula I in which X is H or S; R is alkyl (CnH2n-1 (n>=1); and each of 1-10 is H, halogen, nitro, hydroxy, amino, or the like or its derivative. This liquid crystal molecule to be used is nematic liquid crystals, such as cyclohexane ester type, Schiff's base type, azoxy type, or biphenyl type. The liquid crystal molecules are selected by the directions of the bipole moment of the spiropyrane molecule and steric structure, that is, the liquid crystal molecules to be selected have tendency for forming such molecular arrangement as the bipole moments of the spiropyrane molecules and the liquid crystal molecules being in reverse parallel to each other are selected, when the recording layer is formed. |
