Method and device for stacking sheets

Method and device for braking sheets arriving at a high rate at the exit of a conveyor so that they are deposited without collision in a stacking box. The method consists in taking each sheet (6) in charge substantially without sliding with a rotary drive means (1) and in braking the rotary drive means (1) as far as a predetermined low value before releasing the sheet (6) into a stacking box (3). The device comprises the rotary drive means (1) arranged downstream of a conveyor (2) and upstream of the stacking box (3) and a control unit (9) for controlling variations in speed of the said drive means. <IMAGE>
