<p>A conductivity sensor (10) for measuring conductivity of a material (15) includes an inductive probe (13) having an inductor (21, 22) with an inductance L, a supply of current (35) for driving a current I through the inductor to establish a magnetic field having flux lines extending into the material, an energy monitor (40) for monitoring the energy stored in the magnetic field which is dissipated due to the conductivity of the material (15) and a processor (60) for providing a direct measurement of conductivity of the material (15) based upon an output signal from the energy monitor (40).</p> |
