HEART VALVE PROSTHESIS

A heart valve prosthesis comprises an annular casing (1) in which is mounted a closing element consisting of two flaps (2) rotatable in relation to the casing. The internal surface of the casing (1) is concave, essentially spherical, whereas the lateral surface of each flap (2) is convex, essentially spherical, the centre (O) of the spherical surfaces being located on the central axis (5) of the prosthesis. The flaps (2) are mounted rotatably about an axis located at the cross-sectional plane of the prosthesis and crossing its central axis (5). The prosthesis is intended for use in cardiosurgery for replacement of affected aortic and mitral human heart valves.
