The invention concerns a cutting-tool bit for metal-cutting, in particular turning, operations, the bit having a flat cutting surface with an undulating cutting edge (25) and a similarly undulating shaft surface. The mutually parallel undulation peaks at right angles to the cutting edge (25) are tangential to the plane (27) which passes through the corners (23) of the cutting edge (25) and which is at right angles to a plane formed by all the cutting edges (25).
