The moulded cover (13) has an outer ring and a flat front with a number of radial louvres (16). These are attached to radial ribs via one edge, forming an integral moulding. The ribs are operated by radial rods (23) on a control ring (24) which rotates on the cover. The rods operate on cam-shaped ridges on the back of each louvre, to open and close the louvres. The drive for the louvre control ring is via a temp. control servo (58) to open the louvres when the fan operates. The cooling airflow is in a circular duct, with a central annular section holding the blower motor and the control leads. ADVANTAGE - Low cost variable cover, no separate fittings required for each louvre, simple louvre control.
