The safety system stops or reverses the panel so that the foreign body is not clamped between the panel and the closing edge. The switch block (7) is a strip shaped electrical resistance element which extends at least over the length of the closing edge (6). The block is provided with a pressure sensor part (8-10), which responds suddenly to a change in pressure loading. A position sensor part (8-11) determines a place of the pressure loading of the switch block (7). It produces a signal for the ineffective switching of the safety switching system (14,Si), with the pressure loading of a predetermined region (R) of the block (7). This happens esp. if the panel (3) is in a position close to the closing edge (6), so that no foreign body can penetrate the intermediate space (2) remaining. ADVANTAGE - Sensors respond quickly to interposition of foreign body. Differentiates between clamping and running into end position. Ensures high functioning safety.
